FRüHLINGS ERWACHEN

August marked the start of my second season working at Buehnen Bern.

The first piece was one working with young people from Bern. The director, set & costume designer came from Germany to stage Frühlings Erwachen by F. Wedekind focusing on themes that affect them directly. By rewriting the text, taking the teenagers personal stories on board, as well as discussing suicide rates in Bern, they brought the story to life.

It was incredible seeing a team work with these topics and seeing how theatre can directly address this in a safe space with people directly affected by it. This project brought together all three of my degrees: theatre design, eudcation, and mental health. It taught me that there is a niche where I can potentially combine all three of those elements in the future.
