This production was directed by Arpad Schilling, who usually works in the Schauspiel - spoken theatre. It was a fantastic process to watch a different approach to directing an opera. The choir had 3-4 costumes, and soloists between 2 -3. Each piece teaches me more about the challenges of organising costume changes, lists, and costumes elements for such a large crowd. There are tricks we need to implement in order to achieve a smooth costume change as well as supporting the story the director wants to tell.
